Chobe Game Lodge' architecture is Moorish and graceful - high arches, barrel-vault ceilings and tiled floors. It is the oldest 5-star Lodge in the area, and indeed in Botswana. Chobe Game Lodge originally became famous when Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton married there in the mid-1970s.

All 44 rooms have a balcony or terrace overlooking the Chobe River and the floodplains on the Namibian side. The rooms are located either in the central building on the upper floor or in the two wings to the left and right of the main building. There are four suites with plunge pools (3 x family suites & 1 x honeymoon suite) and 4 triple rooms.

Facilities within the lodge include a well-stocked curio shop, wildlife reference library and a stylish bar with full-sized Victorian pool tables. Chobe Game Lodge's boma (outdoor eating area enclosed by reed walls) is situated under large Mahogany trees on the banks of the Chobe River. Traditional dancers sometimes perform for the guests. A large swimming pool with a terrace can be used to cool down and relax after the game drives.

It is about a 30-minute drive from Kasane to Chobe Game Lodge via Sedudu Gate. The lodge is situated right at the river front of the Chobe River which form the northern border of the 10‘000 km² Chobe National Park. The flood plains on the Namibian side are called Puku flats, an area that is often visited by huge elephant herds. Chobe Game Lodge is the only lodge withing the National Park.

Chobe‘s wildlife roams in profusion and diversity. It is home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa and during the dry season the herds congregate along the fertile flood plains of the Chobe River. Large herds of Buffalo also concentrate on the floodplains during the dry season. Other major species such as Lion, Wild Dog, Puku, Red Lechwe, Sable and Roan Antelope are encountered in many areas of the reserve.

Game drives in the park are conducted in open off-road vehicles. The famous Chobe River cruises are conducted either on maneuverable, smaller flat boats or on a larger houseboat. Particularly impressive when a herd of elephants crosses the river close to your boat. The lodge has its own jetty from which the boats depart.
