Lagoon Camp
Okavango Linyanti

Accommodation
Kwando Lagoon Camp is built on the banks of the Kwando River. The camp is nestled beneath towering ebony and marula trees and offers nine traditionally styled 'tents.' The area is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals, while elephant and hippo are normally visible from the camp. The large rooms with en-suite bathroom, bathtub, outdoor shower and small lounge have thatched roofs and are raised on wooden platforms.

The Kwando Camps are a bit rougher around the edges if compared to the slightly more expensive camps of some other operators in Botswana. However the Kwando Concession has a solid reputation for big game and focus is primarly on serious wildlife tracking.

Location
Kwando Lebala Camp is situated in the north of the private Kwando concession (2'300 km²) in northern Botswana, adjacent to the head waters of the Linyanti marshes that form the boundary between Botswana and Namibia and stretching down to the Selinda Concession. Kwando Lagoon Camp is perched on the banks of the Kwando River, overlooking the Mudumu National Park in the Namibian Caprivi Strip.

Lebala Camp is located in the same concession, about 30km further south of Lagoon Camp.

Wildlife
The Kwando concession is known for its wild dogs that are often seen around camp. Hippo and crocodile populate the water channels in front of camp. Lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah hunt plains game such as giraffe, zebra, impala, wildebeest, kudu, waterbuck, eland, as well as roam and sable.

Big numbers of elephant and buffalo roam the region, especially during the dry season. At this time of the year, all animals need to regularly drink at the river or at one of its many lagoons.

Activities
Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives. Bushwalking seasonably. Afternoon boat trips are conducted on a unique double deck boat that slowly drifts down the river. While enjoying your sundowner drink you will be watching elephants wading through the marshland of the Linyanti.

Because the camp is located in a private concession, night driving with a searchlight and off-road driving for special animal observation is allowed. Close-up shots are guaranteed.

Good to know
Game drives are undertaken in open 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles seating no more than six guests. Guests are guided by a two person team of professional guide and tracker - a special feature of the Kwando Safaris wildlife experience.
