Kinondo Kwetu is surrounded by green shady gardens and sits right on a white sandy beach. Founded by a young Swedish family, a stay at Kinondo Kwetu feels more like staying with friends in their beautiful beach home than in a hotel. The lodge is ideal for families with children.

The lodge accommodates up to 38 guests in various standalone cottages and suites. Every room has its own personalized charm, making the use of local traditional craftsmanship. All suites and cottages have en-suite bathrooms, almost all have sea view and none is further than 50 meters from the beach. All rooms have air-conditioning.

The five standalone cottages are located on both sides of the main building, with three double cottages on the left side, a smaller family cottage (Mbuyu Cottage) on the right side and the two-storey family cottage (Beach House ) with two separate en-suite double bedrooms close to the beach.

There are three larger houses, the Mama Taa Villa, der Mama Tina Villa and Alex House. Mama Taa Villa offers rooms on both floors: 2 double rooms, 4 family rooms, a family suite and the Honeymoon Suite. Mama Tina Villa can also accommodate a family.

Finally, there is Alex House, which is privately rented (peak season only). It is located behind the Mama Tina Villa and has 4 bedrooms with two bathrooms and an open kitchen.

Kinondo Kwetu has two pools, a smaller pool in front of the cottages and a large pool area behind Villa Tina. Day beds and sun loungers at the beach front are perfect for reading and watching the tide come and go. Nature inspires the food concept, fruits and vegetables are locally grown, fresh fish and seafood comes directly from the doorstep, the Indian Ocean. The meals are exceptionally well prepared.

Kinondo Kwetu is situated far end of the tranquil Galu beach, south of Diani beach on the southern Kenyan coast. The nearest hotel is 2 km away, therefore the beach is very private. The lodge is usually accessed by scheduled light aircraft flights into the local Ukunda Airstrip, which can be reached from Maasai Mara, Amboseli and Nairobi. From there it is a short private road transfer to the hotel. It’s also possible to fly into Mombasa International Airport, which is a bit further away, approximately a 1-2 hour drive.

If you’re in the mood for more than just sunbathing and relaxing, you can find an impressive range of different activities at Kinondo Kwetu. Horse-riding on the beach (stables are on site), cultural visits to Kinondo village, golfing, kite-surfing, deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, waterskiing, SUP, boat excursions to ‘Paradise Lost’ island, scuba diving (ranging from first PADI diving lesson to advanced reef dives), snorkeling, sailing, canoeing, daily yoga classes and tailor-made day trips upon request. In addition, a tennis court and tennis coach is available at the lodge. Massages and beauty treatments are offered and there is also a wood-fired sauna.

For most of the year, water temperature lies between 28 and 32C°. Children of all ages are welcome at Kinondo Kwetu and babysitting can easily be arranged.
