Accommodation
Lewa Safari Camp is a moderately priced safari camp with guest accommodation in 13 tented rooms. The camp is part of the famous Lewa Downs Conservancy of northern Kenya.
Lewa Safari Camp was originally built in the 1980s as a home for the rhino manager. It was converted into a safari camp in 1996 and was run by the Craig family until 2015. It is now operated by Elewana.
All thatch-covered tents have a main bedroom, an en-suite bathroom and a spacious verandah. The rooms can be set up as doubles or twins and are widely spread through the bush, and very private. Three of the tents can accommodate triples for parents with one child under 16. Two units are family tents consisting of two en-suite safari tents with a shared verandah, each with one double and one twin.
The main building still has the feel of a traditional homestead, with a comfy lounge area with fire place. The restaurant has been upgraded and received a clean modern look with individual tables. There is also a pool area with loungers and a hide overlooking a waterhole, where wildlife comes to drink.
