Mkulumadzi Lodge
Majete Game Reserve

Accommodation
Mkulumadzi Lodge is set on the banks of the Shire River, and shaded by beautiful old leadwood and mango trees. The lodge's eight airy chalets are furnished to a modern standard, each with en-suite facilities & outdoor shower, spacious bedroom, living zone and private terrace. The pitched green roofs are covered with native shrubs and grasses.

The chalets are constructed with the utmost care for the environment, and remain pleasantly cool during the hot summer. Mkulumadzi offers the perfect combination of pleasing comfort and remote wilderness.

Location
Mkulumadzi is situated in a private concession within Malawi's Majete Game Reserve. Blantyre, the closest large city, is an hour's drive away. Majete looks back on quite a turbulent past: The animal population here dropped dramatically during the 80s and 90s due to poaching. 2003, however, saw the beginning of the successful revival of this population, and countless animals have since returned to the reserve.

Wildlife
Crocodile, hippo, elephant, buffalo and an impressive array of birdlife can be found along the Shire River. Healthy populations of eland antelope, kudu antelope, impala and zebra once again roam the Majete Reserve. With a little luck, guests may even encounter the rare black rhino.

Activities
Game drive, boat or walking safaris - in Majete everything is possible. The lodge also offers excursions to a neighbouring village and background information on the development of Majete Game Reserve.

Good to know
The family chalets have two bedrooms, each with private bathroom.
