Accommodation
Ndomo Point House belongs to Kaya Mawa and is situated a short driving distance from the main lodge. Ndomo Point House offers absolute privacy for families or groups of friends. The house comes with its own personnel, including a nanny and cook.

The blend of Malawian and Moroccan architecture is colourful, tastefully arranged and slightly crazy in its playful use of the individual elements. The house is actually three houses grouped around a courtyard, and connected by jetties and balconies to become one. Ndomo Point House comprises four large bedrooms, three of which are en-suite. A lounge/library and large en-suite bedroom can be found on the lower floor; three further bedrooms are located on the upper floor. Three large terraces, a courtyard and the swimming pool offer plenty of space to relax and enjoy. Meals are either taken in the kitchen or enjoyed as a barbeque in the courtyard. Naturally, the house has its own private beach.

Location
Likoma Island is situated in the middle of Lake Malawi and is actually a Malawian enclave within Mozambique. Some 7000 people inhabit the island and guests may partake in all aspects of local life. The lodge is located in the southwest of the island with views across the water to Mozambique.

Likoma Island is accessed by air from Lilongwe (flight time approximately 1 hour) or alternatively from Mvuu Lodge. It's a short journey from Likoma Airstrip to the lodge.

Activities
Lake Malawi is considered to be one of the best freshwater lake destinations for diving and snorkelling.

Activities on offer at Kaya Mawa include kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, diving, snorkelling, sundowner trips, quad biking and cycling. There is often a good wind for those who wish to do a spot of single-handed sailing. The rocks in front of the lodge are ideal for beginner dives. Further diving spots can be found along the coast or close to a small island situated nearby.

A visit to the local markets or a tour of the island on foot or by mountain bike brings guests in contact with the locals, who are renowned for their open friendliness.

Good to know
Lake Malawi cannot be mentioned without also mentioning bilharzia / schistosomiasis, a worm infection transmitted in freshwaters. In order to reproduce, the worm requires a type of freshwater snail, which lives in reedy areas close to the shore. An infection is impossible on the lake at a distance of more than 120 m from the shore. The lodge carries out regular water tests. Those who wish to avoid any risk whatsoever of infection are advised to use only the swimming pool. If guests exhibit symptoms of the so-called Katayama fever after returning home, taking a medication such as Praziquantal will ensure swift recovery.
