The name of the Heritage Le Telfair derives from Charles Telfair, he was a famous Irish naturalist in the 19th century. The 2500 hectare property used to be a traditional sugar cane plantation. The old manor house Heritage Le Château on the edge of the 18-hole golf course and is open to guests as a restaurant. The undisputedly elegant hotel offers 158 suites, all stylishly and harmoniously furnished, some directly on the one kilometre long beach, others slightly set back closer to the swimming pool or in the garden. The rooms are located in two-storey colonial style buildings with pation or balcony. The culinary offer is very varied and ranges from African to Creole and Japanese. You have access to twelve different restaurants and eight bars, most of them of course open air, this includes the facilities of the sister hotel Heritage Awali.
Location
The Heritage Le Telfair is located on the quiet south coast of Mauritius. Gris Gris, Riambel and Saint Felix, the beaches of the south coast are completely undeveloped. Small fishing villages are scattered sparsely along the coast and the rough waves break on the coral reef so that the sea on the beach is usually shallow. The airport transfer takes about 40 minutes.
Activities
Golf and tennis are popular, the wellness and fitness area is extensive and offers everything you could wish for. You can participate in Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and Reiki lessons. Of course, the usual water and beach sports are all available as well as boat and catamaran tours. Guided quad bike and 4x4 tours and hikes can be undertaken in the nearby Heritage Nature Reserve.
Good to know
Nature conservation and sustainability are highly important to Heritage Resorts. Energy and water consumption are optimized, waste is recycled, rain and brackish water is cleaned and re-used, only organic fertilizers are used for the golf course, local products are purchased wherever possible.
