Canyon Lodge in Gondwana Canyon Park is 20 km away from the Fish River Canyon. The lodge offers 25 individual en-suite stone chalets with air conditioning that cling to large granite rocks scattered about the area. A former farmhouse, the main building now houses a restaurant that looks onto a beautiful garden. The swimming pool with its loungers and spectacular views over the surrounding landscape is located a short distance away.

The Fish River Canyon is the world's second largest canyon after the Grand Canyon. It is approximately 160 km long, 27 km wide and 500 m deep. Those who wish to stand on the rim and cast their eyes around the canyon would do well to take a good deep breath beforehand - rarely does one experience so much space in front of, above and below one.

Excursions to Fish River Canyon, walks and rides can be organised by the lodge. Guests should book a several-day guided walk if they wish to explore the Fish River Canyon in detail. The walk usually heads south towards Ai Ais, with simple dome-tented accommodation - a truly fantastic experience! These walks are only available in the cooler months until September, otherwise the weather is simply too hot.
