Desert Whisper is an exclusive accommodation in the Gondwana Namib Park for a maximum of two people. The entrance is shared with Gondwana's Namib Desert Lodge, but Desert Whisper has its own reception and is independently run. Here, guests enjoy plenty of privacy, great views and the feeling of floating above the world.

The accommodation has the shape of half a UFO and floats above a rocky hill. The climate-controlled bedroom with bathroom is located in the center and is enclosed by the spacious lounge to the right and the kitchen to the left. A huge window front allows views into the distance from any point of the suite.

The kitchen has been extended with a beautiful terrace where guests may enjoy meals delivered by Namib Desert Lodge. There is also the option to order a basket of food and cook your own meals - a barbecue is also available. From the terrace a path leads down to the private splash pool, which promises welcome cooling on hot days.

There is no service staff or chef based at the Desert Whisper during the stay of the gusts to guarantee complete exclusivity and intimacy. However, guests always have radio contact with their host. A private chef can be arranged upon request to prepare and service dinner.

Desert Whisper is located 60km north of Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei, and 30km south of Solitaire. Solitaire is in-famous for it's quirky petrol station and the popular "Moose McGregor Desert Bakery". Admnire the decorative and rusty oldtimers and enjoy a coffee and a fine apple pie - the only one available for miles.

Desert Whisper is located within the Gondwana Namib Park, which was established in 2004 and covers approximately 127km². The area is home to several desert-adapted animal species such as springbok, oryx antelope, ostrich, jackal and numerous small animals. The Gondwana Namib Park borders the Namib Naukluft Park and includes both the typical stony plains covered by a few bushes and the endless sand dunes stretching towards the ocean.

Within the Gondwana Namib Park, excursions with the lodge's vehicles (Scenic Drives) are included, as well as hikes (independent or guided) and also excursions by e-bike.

In order to visit Sossusvlei, you best use your own 4 x 4 vehicle. Order a picknick the night before and head off early. The gate at Sesriem opens at sunrise. Your name and vehicle are registered when entering the park, payment must only be done on return from the dunes. The distance to the dunes from the main gate is 65 km on asphalt; the last 5 km are deep sand and therefore only suitable for 4x4 vehicles.

If you have arrived by plane, it is essential to pre-book a Sossusvlei excursion should you wish to visit Sossusvlei. While the excursion is included in the rate, is is not on an exclusive basis.
