Grootberg Lodge comprises fourteen chalets and two family chalets, a small swimming pool and of course a restaurant. All of them with a terrific view into the Klip River Valley where Black Eagles are a regular sight.

The Grootberg Lodge is managed by local residents, who provides training, specialist staff and other infrastructure to the lodge and is also active in ecotourism and animal welfare.

The lodge is located between Palmwag and Kamanjab, in northeastern Namibia, on the edge of the Etendeka Plateau. Here, the plateau descends into the Klip River Valley, which is part of the 12,000 hectare ≠ Khoadi // Hoas Conservancy.

Galton Gate, the western entrance to Etosha Nationl Park, can be reached in about two hours‘ drive.

The driveway to the lodge is very steep and definitely only doable by 4x4. All others leave the vehicle at the bottom of the hill and a driver from the lodge will pick you up.

In the area of the ≠ Khoadi // Hoas Conservancy live the rare desert elephants and black rhinos. Both species can be found with the help of local trackers. Zebra, oryx antelope, many small animals and an endlessly beautiful landscape leaves no one unimpressed.

Guided walks on the Etendeka plateau, game drives and nature drives in search of desert elephants or the shy black rhinos. Visits of the Himba tribe.
