Wolwedans Dune Camp

Accommodation
Positioned on the edge of a 250-metre high dune, Wolwedans Dune Camp offers six rooms and a family suite (Dune Camp Private). Guests stay in very comfortable tents, which are pitched on wooden platforms. A spacious deck, allowing for safe sleep-outs under the stars and a private bathroom (insider & outside) make for a rather civilized camping experience. Each room comes with the ‘Wolwedans Chiller’ – a water-filled silo to cool off during hot summer months.

Dune Camp Private is your private option at Dune Camp, offering space for 4 adults & 2 children, and sold on exclusive basis only. It sits high on a dune, withing walking distance from Dune Camp, but far away for total privacy. The villa has two bedrooms connected by a living area and a large deck, providing space to relax but also plenty of privacy. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and a ‘Wolwedans Chiller.’

Location
The NamibRand Nature Reserve is one of southern Africa's largest private reserves. A large number of sheep farms were combined with the aim of creating an unfenced nature reserve where animals can roam freely. The reserve covers 200,000 hectares bordering on the Namib Naukluft Park to the west, and the Nubib Mountains in the east.

Wildlife
Game species found in the Reserve include gemsbok, mountain and plains zebra, springbok, oryx, ostrich, red hartebeest, bat-eared fox, spotted hyena, cape fox and african wildcat. The rocky areas are inhibited by kudu, klipspringer, baboon and leopard. Don't expect to find them in great numbers, but they can be found in the area.

Activities
The lodge offers trips in 4x4 vehicles to the most beautiful parts of the region. The guides are more than welcome to explain all they know about the Namib Desert. Wolwedans also offers horse riding (extra) all year round apart from the hot summer months December to March. On offer are morning or afternoon rides (approx 1,5 hrs), sundowner rides (2 hrs) or full day rides.
