Kwandwe Private Reserve

Situated in the Eastern Cape near Port Elizabeth, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is 22’000 hectares of pure, undisturbed wilderness. The reserve is private and only open to Kwandwe guests, thus an utterly private experience is guaranteed. The Great Fish River flows for a distance of 30 km through the reserve.

Location
The reserve is accessed in approximately 2 hours by road from Port Elizabeth. Alternatively, guests may choose to take a light aircraft to Kwandwe Airstrip. If arriving in a private vehicle, guests leave their car at Heatherton Towers, the reserve’s car park, before being transferred by safari vehicle to the lodge of your choice.
Wildlife
Kwandwe is home to the Big 5 (both black and white rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard), as well as cheetah, kudu, springbok, eland antelope, giraffe, wildebeest and gemsbok.
The meaning of Kwandwe in isiXhosa is “Place of the Blue Crane”, and this reserve is home to a population of South Africa’s rare national bird.
Activities
Morning, evening and night game drives, guided bushwalking, fishing, bush breakfast and/or dinner are on offer.
Sightseeing flights are also available at extra cost.
