Whilst the 10 luxury bedrooms retain the Victorian feel of the Manor House, they provide all the luxury and amenities of a modern hotel like minibar, tea/coffee facility, fireplace, under floor heating in the bathroom, rain shower, hairdryer, etc. The Honeymoon Suite is tucked away on the ede of a small forest and has a four-poster bed and over-sized bathroom. The family cottage is the restored Coach House at the top end of the property and boasts a loft area with two extended-length single beds for children and an extended-length king for parents. It offers a small kitchenette.
Swellendam is situated on the N2 halfway between Cape Town and George, approximately 220km either way. It is a good entry point for the scenic routes R60 and R62 that lead to Barrydale and Roberston respectively.
Marloth Nature Reserve is the place to do some hiking or mountain biking. There is a choice of easy to advanced trails taking you into the peaceful and cool mountain fynbos. There are some smaller waterfalls and rock pools on the way. The demanding routes climb up to Twaalfuurkop (1450 m) from where you can see the ocean in the distance on a clear day.
Bontebok National Park is close by too. The park was founded in 1931 to protect the last 30 remaining bontebok. Today there are about 200 bontebok found in the park.
