The Outpost
Kruger National Park
Accommodation
The Outpost is located at the northern end of Kruger Park that is visited by fewer guests than the south of Kruger. The Outpost accommodates 24 guests in 12 stand-alone open plan en-suite rooms resting on a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River. The rooms are connected to each other and the central Lodge area by a 500m Zimbabwean teak walkway.
These contemporary rooms have been cleverly designed, making full use of space, concrete and steel with state-of the art retractable remote controlled screens offering 180-degrees of uninterrupted views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. The open feel of the rooms extends into a comfortable lounge and outdoor terrace with a double daybed.
Room 12 is the Honeymoon Space, built at the highest point of the Lodge. Being high up, the room is more private and the views are truly sensational.
Elevated walkways connect the rooms with the main building, which offers a very nice swimming pool, a bar, a lounge with fireplace and of course a restaurant.
Location
The camp is situated in the northern part of the Kruger National Park, close to the borders of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The landscape comprises the best bush Africa has to offer, with Yellow Fever Tree forests and countless river bends, springs and ravines like Lanner Gorge.
Wildlife
The Kruger National Park was founded in 1898 by the then president, Paul Kruger, and constitutes South Africa's largest game reserve. The founding of this park has enabled the almost extinct population of rhino in this region to rise again to 5'000. The Kruger National Park is ‘big five' country and offers the best chances of seeing lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hippo and much, much more.
The Makulele area is listed as Ramsar Wetland and there are over 350 species of birds here.
Activities
The camp offers day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles and bushwalking. The Outpost on the map
