Thonga Beach
KwaZulu-Natal

Accommodation
The lodge's twelve thatched, well-appointed rooms are located in beautiful natural surroundings nestled amidst a protected dune landscape close to the beach. Elegantly decorated and tastefully furnished, they offer guests the perfect, private retreat. Several rooms come with sea views and are therefore slightly more expensive than the standard rooms. A large deck with loungers stands on the dunes close to the beach offering spectacular views of the coast.

Location
Thonga Beach Lodge is situated on the secluded, pristine and wild northeast coast of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Walk for hours along the endless beaches without seeing another soul and experience the crashing of waves onto this wild coast. The lodge is located in the World Heritage Site listed iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Activities
The snorkel and dive sites around Thonga are some of the best in South Africa. Alternative activities include trips to Lake Sibaya, South Africa's largest freshwater lake, where visitors can kayak, walk or try their hand at fly fishing. See ocean turtles lay their eggs and watch the young hatch from November to February.

Diving
The area around Mabibi is home to over 1'200 species of fish; the largest of the water-dwelling creatures here include the manta, dolphin, shark, whale shark and turtle. Thonga Beach Lodge belongs to iSimangaliso Wetland Park and the coast is part of a protected reserve. The lodge offers a fully equipped dive centre.
