Lemala Ewanjan Camp
Central Serengeti
Accommodation
Lemala Ewanjan Camp offers twelve tents with rich wooden floors and private verandas. Each tent is equipped with two queen-size beds, small private veranda, lounge, 24-hr solar electricity supply, flushing WC and safari shower (hot water is filled from the outside on request). Two of the tents are 2-bedroom suites that can accommodate a family or 4 adults.
Furnished and decorated in a traditional colonial style, the two well-maintained main tents house a bar and dining area.
Location
Lemala Ewanjan is set at the foot of the Makoma Hills in Seronera Valley in the central Serengeti. This huge national park has remained a true wildlife paradise thanks to the work of luminary Bernhard Grzimek (the then director of Frankfurt Zoo) and his son Michael, who dedicated their lives to the preservation of the Serengeti's wildlife throughout the 50s and 60s.
Wildlife
The Seronera region provides excellent year-round game viewing. There's a good chance to see all the big cats in this area.
During April/May/June and in November, the area around Lemala Ewanjan is ideal for viewing the Great Migration as the wildebeest and zebras should move through the area.
Volcanic ash has made the flat, endless plains fertile and the savannah landscape is scattered with several kopjes (strange stone formations), which rise up out of the flatland providing the ideal habitat for numerous species of small animal or the perfect viewing platform for predators. Visitors will encounter lion, leopard, cheetah and perhaps even rhino - all in addition to large numbers of ungulates.
Activities
The camp offers game drives.
Good to know

Permanent Camps
Permanent camps do not change location and therefore have a better infrastructure than mobile camps.
Mobile Camps
Mobile camps operate in the Serengeti and change their location two or three times a year following the Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebra. Mobile camps have a simpler, bush-like character. Although the rooms have an en-suite bathroom, there is often no running water in the rooms. Bathrooms are then equipped with a so-called bucket shower that needs to be filled with hot water by the camp team on demand.
