The original Maasai Lodge of Amini Life was built by the Maasai of this region with much love and passion and allows visitors an insight into the traditional life of the Maasai. The 14 bungalows were built in the style of a traditional Maasai village and exude an irresistible charm despite or perhaps because of their rustic construction.

The restaurant serves international and traditional Swahili dishes. There is a swimming pool with shaded loungers and pool bar, a sun terrace, and an evening bonfire where guests can meet and socialize. Nearby Kilimanjaro is omnipresent, and on a clear day it offers a stunning sight.

The existence of this lodge is owed to the charitable organization Amini Life. Christine Wallner came to Tanzania in 2008 and founded a health clinic, several schools and workshops for the training of craftsmen. To finance these projects, all of which are run by locals, three lodges were established, including the Original Maasai Lodge.

Maasai Lodge is located between Mount Meru / Arusha National Park and Kilimanjaro and can be reached from Arusha in just over an hour.

Spear throwing, traditional dances and music, visits of the local school or village, nature walks as well as the evenings around the campfire allow an authentic interaction with the Maasai. Some activities such as mountain biking and horseback riding can be booked at an additional cost. The lodge also offers massages.
