Olakira Camp
Serengeti - Mobile
Accommodation
Olakira Camp is a classic seasonal safari camp with ten spacious safari tents (only nine tents in the south), each with a king size bed, en-suite bathroom with flushing WC, safari shower (hot water to order), safe and electricity.
The tents are constructed side-by-side at ground level, each with a small veranda from which guests can observe the wildlife. With its down-to-earth elegance, Olakira Camp is a comfortable seasonal camp and offers guests the chance to experience the spirit of early African explorers. The rooms are equipped with wooden floors and even have space for a small lounge, and this despite the fact that Olakira is a mobile camp. There family tents (two in the North, one in the South) are two identical standard tents connected by an enclosed passage way.
The front part of the room can be converted into a stargazing tent for the night if desired ... the bed is then moved under the stars, so to speak.
Location
The camp moves twice a year in order to be as close to the Great Migration as possible.
Olakira Ndutu
The camp can be found in the Ndutu region from December through to the end of March. The Ndutu area is located south of the Naabi Gate and is not part of the Serengeti National Park. We call the camp Olakira Ndutu during this time of the year.
Olakira Mara
The camp is called Olakira Mara from June until end October while it is situated in the northern Serengeti in the Kogatende area, close to the Mara River crossings.
Wildlife
The wildebeest enjoying the fresh grass shoots in the Ndutu area from December to March and give birth in their thousands every day mostly in February. The animals then move north and start crossing the Mara River from mid of June.
This camp is mostly booked to experience the Great Migration.
Activities
The camp offers game drives.

Permanent Camps
Permanent camps do not change location and therefore have a better infrastructure than mobile camps.
Mobile Camps
Mobile camps operate in the Serengeti and change their location two or three times a year following the Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebra. Mobile camps have a simpler, bush-like character. Although the rooms have an en-suite bathroom, there is often no running water in the rooms. Bathrooms are then equipped with a so-called bucket shower that needs to be filled with hot water by the camp team on demand.
