Sayari Camp
Northern Serengeti
Accommodation
The large white tents of Sayari Camp are the calling card of one of the best camps in the Serengeti. Slightly raised atop platforms, six guest tents extend out on one side of the main building and nine on the other.
Each tent comes with a large bedroom, separate bathroom, large shower and bathtub. The sliding glass front affords uninterrupted views of the passing wildlife and offers access to a large veranda, where a couch and chairs invite guests to sit back and relax.
Because each side of the camp has its own dining tent, lounge and swimming pool, its size is not at all noticeable.
Location
The majestic and endless Serengeti is inextricably bound to the idea of a perfect safari experience - and rightfully so. With its unending plains and umbrella thorn acacias, the Serengeti is the epitome of natural African beauty.
Sayari Camp opened in 2005 on the southern banks of the Mara River and was the first permanent camp in the area. The location of the camp is perfect to experience the river crossings of wildebeest and zebra. The distance to the river is only a few minutes.
Wildlife
The Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebras and the crossings of the Mara River can be witnessed from July to October - a special event and a fantastic highlight of any trip to the Serengeti.
During the rest of the year, Northern Serengeti is quite with guests and this is exactly the reason why you should visit. The resident game at Sayari Camp is spectacular all year round. Plains game in the form of zebra, topi, gazelles, impala, buffalo and giraffe all frequent the area, and the resident wildebeest never join the migrating herds. Lion are rarely far away, leopard like the rocky kopjes and even cheetahs are often seen. Hippos and large crocodiles can be found in the Mara River all year round.
Activities
The camp offers games drives. Walking safaris are also possible when booked in advance.

Permanent Camps
Permanent camps do not change location and therefore have a better infrastructure than mobile camps.
Mobile Camps
Mobile camps operate in the Serengeti and change their location two or three times a year following the Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebra. Mobile camps have a simpler, bush-like character. Although the rooms have an en-suite bathroom, there is often no running water in the rooms. Bathrooms are then equipped with a so-called bucket shower that needs to be filled with hot water by the camp team on demand.
