Mara River Camp
Northern Serengeti - Lamai
Accommodation
Described by Singita as a bush camp, Mara River Tented Camp is as tastefully appointed as any Singita lodge and run to the same exacting standards. Its relaxing and luxurious ‘bohemian chic’ atmosphere is apparent throughout the whole camp. Natural colours, elegant fabrics and handpicked materials create a wonderful atmosphere of luxury & adventure in the African bush.
The camp offers four double rooms and two family rooms, each with two bedrooms and a shared veranda. The rooms are in actual fact safari tents with a large double bed, en-suite bathroom and an additional outdoor area to sit and enjoy the view of the Mara River.
The main building comprises a dining tent, a lounge and an outdoor bar with large deck and open fireplace. A beautiful swimming pool is located just around the corner. The lodge is situated just 80 m from the edge of the river.
Location
Mara River Tented Camp was built by Singita in the Lamai Wedge. This region is located north of the Mara River on the border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara. This side of the river is home to very few lodges thus there are also very few vehicles. Slightly raised, the camp is situated just less than 100 m from the river’s edge. It offers views of a large part of the river bend and the rolling hills of the Kogakuria Kopjes in the background.
The camp is accessed by aircraft from Lamai Airstrip. Transfer time to camp is approximately 30 mins.
Wildlife
Lamai Wedge is occupied by wildebeest and zebra during the great migration from July to October, but still offers excellent safaris during the rest of the year. Although the great migration of wildebeest and zebra is the absolute highlight of any trip to Tanzania, it is not the be-all-and-end-all of the region, and guests do not have to rely on it entirely.
Activities
The camp offers game drives in open 4x4 vehicles.Mara River Camp on the map

Permanent Camps
Permanent camps do not change location and therefore have a better infrastructure than mobile camps.
Mobile Camps
Mobile camps operate in the Serengeti and change their location two or three times a year following the Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebra. Mobile camps have a simpler, bush-like character. Although the rooms have an en-suite bathroom, there is often no running water in the rooms. Bathrooms are then equipped with a so-called bucket shower that needs to be filled with hot water by the camp team on demand.
