Apoka Safari Lodge
Kidepo Valley National Park
Accommodation
Apoka Safari Lodge is the only accommodation within Kidepo Valley National Park and clearly the best place to discover the wild beauty of the park. The lodge offers ten spacious chalet suites with natural canvas walls, en-suite bathroom and outdoor stone bathtub. The main building includes inviting sofa corners, a bar and a cozy restaurant. Both the rock pool that has been carved out of a big rock and the observation tower provide spectacular views over the savannah.
Location
Kidepo Valley National Park is the most secluded and probably the most pristine wildlife sanctuary in Uganda. The park is considered one of the best places to experience Africas unique wildlife up close: giraffe, zebra, elephant, lion, cheetah, large herds of buffalo, waterbuck, oribi, warthog and an endless number of bird species transform the region into a safari paradise.
Apoka Safari Lodge is picturesquely situated on a hill overlooking the Narus River Valley in the southwestern sector of Kidepo Valley National Park. The still very pristine wildlife sanctuary is located in northeastern Uganda and borders Sudan to the north, the Napore Mountains to the west, the Morungole Mountains to the south and Kenya to the east.
Culturally, the region is equally unique and seems to have sprung from another time and world. The Karimajong and Ik tribes still live here in their very traditional way of life, characterized by myths and rituals.
Wildlife
Kidepo National Park hosts four of the Big Five: Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Elephant. In addition, Kidepo is home to numerous other wildlife species such as the rare tantalus monkey, eland antelope, zebra and giraffe. Kidepo is the only park in Uganda where cheetahs roam, with its wide plains providing a suitable habitat. Furthermore, the bird diversity is very high with more than 460 bird species recorded, 58 of which are birds of prey.
Activities
