Location
Kibale National Park (795 km²) is home to 13 different primate species. Especially the chimpanzees are a magnet for many visitors to Uganda. About 1,500 chimpanzees live in Kibale Forest, as well as the largest population of colobus monkeys in East Africa.
Ndali Lodge is located on the edge of the imposing Nyinambuga Crater Lake, about 10km west of Kibale Forest. The land around Ndali is privately owned and still operated in the traditional way.
The lodge is about 45 minutes drive from the starting point of the chimpanzee trekking. Queen Elizabeth National Park can be reached within two hours.
Wildlife
The tropical forests of Kibale National Park is one of the best places to see primates in the wild. Chimpanzee trekking starts from Kanyanchu Visitor Center and lasts two to three hours, usually in a group of six guests. The minimum age is 12 years as visitors must strictly follow the instructions of the guide. Guests can usually get within a few meters of the primates and sighting success rate is very high, over 90%.
In addition to the primates, note the numerous birds and butterflies that hide in the undergrowth and on the trees that grow up to 55m high.
Activities
Besides the main attraction of chimpanzee trekking, guests can also visit the surrounding farms with their coffee and banana plantations, hike to the Mahoma waterfalls or go swimming in the crater lake. A boat is also available to guests.
