Primate Lodge
Kibale Forest

Accommodation
Primate Lodge is one of the few accommodations located within Kibale Forest. The nine luxury cottages (3 x Twin and 6 x Double with King-Size bed) are well spread in the forest around the main building and offer a lot of privacy. The cottages are constructed from local materials, have en-suite bathrooms with showers and private verandas. Last, but not least, the Honeymoon Cottage is a two-story house with a lounge on the lower floor and bedroom with super large king-size bed plus outside terrace on the upper floor.

The main building itself includes a lounge, bar, dining area and a garden where you can relax and listen to the sounds of the forest.

Location
Kibale National Park (795 km²) is home to 13 different primate species. Especially the chimpanzees are a magnet for many visitors to Uganda. About 1,500 chimpanzees live in Kibale Forest, as well as the largest population of colobus monkeys in East Africa.

Primate Lodge is centrally located close to the main entrance to the park respectively the ranger post, which is also the starting point for the treks.

Wildlife
The tropical forests of Kibale National Park is one of the best places to see primates in the wild. Chimpanzee trekking starts from Kanyanchu Visitor Center and lasts two to three hours, usually in a group of six guests. The minimum age is 12 years as visitors must strictly follow the instructions of the guide. Guests can usually get within a few meters of the primates and sighting success rate is very high, over 90%.

In addition to the primates, note the numerous birds and butterflies that hide in the undergrowth and on the trees that grow up to 55m high.

Activities
Besides the main attraction of chimpanzee trekking, guests can also visit Bigodi Swamp or Bunyaruguru Crater Lake. Various areas in the forest are also suitable for trekking and birding.
