Semliki Safari Lodge
Semliki Wildlife Reserve

Accommodation
Semliki Safari Lodge is the only accommodation in the entire Semliki Valley and offers a very exclusive experience. The lodge has six en-suite tented suites with wooden floors and a terrace where guests can sit outside and relax on daybeds plus two safari suites with outdoor bathtubs and private verandas.

The main building is slightly elevated on stilts, open to the front and covered with a high thatched roof. Great views of the Rwenzori Mountains can be enjoyed during the meals, from the bar and from the swimming pool.

Location
Semliki Safari Lodge in the Toro-Semliki Game Reserve sits in the heart of the Albertine Rift Valley and is surrounded by the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Albert. The topographically unique and at the same time oldest protected area in Uganda is considered an absolute insider tip for ornithologists. 34 endemic bird species can be found in the Semliki Reserve.

The lodge can be reached by plane (2 hours from Entebbe) or by vehicle. The drive from Fort Portal takes about two hours.

Wildlife
The Toro-Semliki Reserve forms a geographic transformation zone where tropical rainforests merge into lush savannas, and evergreen swamplands into the vast Lake Albert. The lowlands are surrounded by the steeply rising Rift Valley, deep river channels and the foothills of the snow-capped, over 5,000m high peaks of the Ruwenzori Mountains.

The combination of these geographic features has created a vegetation zone of unique biodiversity, home to both the typical inhabitants of the Central African rainforests (forest elephant or forest buffalo for example) and those of the East African savannas (lion, antelope or warthog).

Besides numerous endemic bird species, the Semliki Valley also attracts migratory birds in large numbers. The swamp and shore landscapes around Lake Albert provide ideal breeding conditions for the rare shoebill stork, fish eagle and many other species. The lush valleys and forests of the reserve are also home to several groups of chimpanzees.

Activities
Game drives, chimpanzee trekking, boat trips on Lake Albert (half & full day trips) with a good chance to see shoebills, fishing on Lake Albert, day trips to Semliki National Park and the Batwa communities.
