Zungulila Bush Camp has just four tents at ground level, each furnished in a traditional safari style with carpeted floors and colonial furniture. In addition to the en-suite bathrooms, the rooms also come with a large outdoor shower and a small pool for those hot days. Two tents are located at either side of the main building and joined by a sand path.
The centre of the camp comprises two tents housing a dining area and lounge; a deck with a fire pit is located nearby providing the venue for evening meals served under the stars. A small water channel and a large grass plain are situated to the front of the camp, the Kapamba River can be seen in the distance.
Accessed in 30 mins from Mfuwe Airport, Mfuwe Lodge (main lodge, 24 rooms, mid-range accommodation) and various smaller, more rewarding bush camps located further south all belong to the Bushcamp Company.
Vehicle transfer usually includes a stop at Mfuwe Lodge, the Bushcamp Company's beating heart, where guests can recharge before continuing on to one of the smaller bush camps.
The southern part of South Luangwa Park is covered with mopane forests; game drives are focussed around the riverbed as its open plains are home to a denser concentration of wildlife. Elephant, buffalo, hyena, lion and leopard are often sighted; wild dog less often. The rivers and lagoons also support numerous crocodile, hippo and a large variety of birdlife.
Thornicroft's giraffe, Cookson's wildebeest and Crawshay's zebra are unique to South Luangwa National Park.
