Aiyana
Pemba Island
Accommodation
The Aiyana on Pemba offers 30 air-conditioned beach front villas with wonderful views over the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon, the coral reef and the Indian Ocean.
The 8 1-bedroom prestige beach villas (80m2 living area) and the 18 1-bedroom superior beach villas (90m2 living area with additional lounge) all have en-suite bathrooms with bath, additional outdoor shower and an outside garden area with two sun loungers facing the ocean.
The 2-bedroom villas (2 x Ambassador Villas and the Royal Villa) feature a private pool. The Royal Villa comes with 230m2 living space on two floors, indoor dining area and a lovely garden with private gazebo. The Presidential Villa (270m2 living space) is even larger and offers a third bedroom.
The complex is nestled in a lush tropical garden, designed and built by the owner, a landscape architect, over a period of 7 years. The rooms are located on either side of the main building and are flanked by the Royal Villa (No. 1) at the north end and the Presidential Villa (No. 30) at the south end. The main building itself has a large dining area with outdoor terrace, a pool bar and a very beautiful infinity pool.
Location
Pemba Island is much less renowned and less frequented than its big sister Zanzibar further south. There are few accommodation options on the serene island of Pemba. The Aiyana Resort is located on the northern-most edge of Pemba Island. It is a 30-minutes flight from Zanzibar to Chaka Chaka airport, followed by a 90-minute road transfer to Aiyana.
Activities
Lunch on a sandbank at low tide, snorkeling trips, sundowner trips with a traditional dhow, visit to Ngezi Forest (25min drive). If you just want to relax afterwards, we recommend the beautiful spa, where massages, body treatments and facials are offered.
