Thanda Island is one of the world’s most exclusive island getaways, a tropical paradise for you to enjoy in complete privacy with family and friends. It took ten years to discover and develop this remarkably uncommon destination as totally private island getaway. Thanda comes complete with a team of dedicated staff to cater to your every need.
Thanda offers a single luxurious villa with five air-conditioned bedroom suites, each of which can accommodate two adults in a king-size bed and additional beds for children if required. The main villa is tastefully furnished, with the spacious living room and dining area boasting 180-degree ocean views, library, fitness center and a large outdoor area with a rim-flow swimming pool. Not only is Thanda Island fully equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay, facilities include a range of thoughtful extras from the practical, such as a pizza oven, cocktail bar, BBQ, to the extravagant including a Steinway piano, indoor aquarium, cigar humidor and a good selection of high quality wines.
Two double-storey beach bungalows, with two en-suite bedrooms each, are located on the other side of the island and provide extra space for another eight guests. Additional accommodation of up to a further 8 guests can be provided on the superyacht «Sea Leopard».
Location
Thanda Island is located in the Indian Ocean, 30 km off the east Coast of Tanzania. Situated in its own marine reserve called Shungi Mbili, you can bathe with the whale shark, and watch sea turtles nesting. To get there, guests fly to Mafia Island from where it is a 30-minute boat ride or a 10-minute helicopter ride to Thanda Island (extra costs). Access directly from Dar-Es-Salam by helicopter is also provided (35 minutes, extra costs).
Activities
Whilst relaxation is always an option on the beach or by the pool, the island also offers up ample opportunity for fun and adventures both on land and at sea.
Boasting a private coral reef, the waters are ideal for snorkelling and between the months of October and March you can find yourself getting up close to impressive whale sharks.
A host of water sports equipment is provided for kayaking, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding and deep sea fishing and games such as volleyball and table tennis are also available. All activities are included.
