Qambani exudes a special calm and solidity and the elevated position above the sea allows great views over the vast ocean. The location is far away from the crowds and for once there is no village nearby, only the chugging of the passing fishing boats returning to their home ports breaks the evening silence for a short while.
A professional team takes care of your well-being. The kitchen is of high standard and for dinner, guests usually dine on the palm-fringed terrace at cosy lounge tables that are lit by lanterns.
Three bungalows are arranged on each side of the main building. The bungalows «Africa» and «Plantation» are double rooms with large en-suite bathrooms and an open-air lounge upstairs. All rooms provide air conditioning, minibar, tea/coffee station and a safe.
The «Castaway» and «Coastal» bungalows have an en-suite master bedroom (double) and an en-suite children's bedroom (twin). The «Sultan» features two en-suite bedrooms (double) with a shared lounge which makes this bungalow perfectly suitable for families or two befriended couples.
Last but not least, there is the romantic «Sundowner House», located at the very end of the property. Painted in pink colour, this romantic Arabian castle offers a fantastic roof terrace with irresistible views over the sea and it’s very own small splash pool. A very charming place to stay indeed.
However, there is no reason to be sad if you don't have your own plunge pool. Below the main building you will find a very attractive 40m swimming pool with pool bar, a patio covered in frangipani flowers, as well as another, slightly smaller pool around the corner.
Location
Qambani is located almost at the tip of the Michamvi Peninsula, on the southeast coast of Zanzibar. The Michamvi Peninsula is still quite tranquil by Zanzibari standards.
Qambani has no beach worth mentioning. The bay is rather rocky and stony, so if want to swim in the sea, Qambani will not be your first choice. However, the 40m-swimming-pool makes up for the lack of beach and the the view over the ocean is quite unique.
Qambani can be reached from the airport in about 1h 30 minutes on a fairly good tarred road, followed by a 10 minute bumpy ride on a dirt road.
Activities
Everything offered on the island can be arranged by Qambani. There is snorkeling equipment and kayaks on site. Diving, windsurfing and kitesurfing are organized by specialized providers in Paje and Jambiani (20 min drive).
Lovely sailing excursions on a traditional dhow and picnics on a lonely sandbank can start directly from Qambani.
