Upendo Beach is a beach club with restaurant & pool and is open to all beach goers and visitors. The facility is very well maintained, stylish and has a great ambiance, with events taking place on a regular basis. Honeymoon couples, younger guests and the young at heart who like music and company will love Upendo Beach.
On one side of the resort are the two private, two-story beach front villas, «Priya» and «Kusum». The bedroom with large en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower is located on the lower floor. An outside staircase leads to the roof terrace, where a rectangular plunge pool and two Zanzibari beds await you. Welcome to your private paradise with stunning ocean views and your very own palm tree.
Villa Shiva with six bedrooms and its own pool is located on the other side of the main building. Villa Shiva can be rented on a private basis by a group of friends or a family or as single rooms on an individual basis (2 x Ocean Front Sea View Suites, 2 x Sea View Suites, 2 x Garden View Rooms).
Location
Upendo Beach is located on the east side of the Michamvi Peninsula, on the southeast coast of Zanzibar. The Michamvi Peninsula is still quite tranquil by Zanzibar standards.
The beach is mostly sandy; in certain areas also rocky - depending on the direction of the monsoon wind that moves sand around the island. At low tide a large area of the seabed is exposed. Swimming is still always possible as there are some tidal creeks where enough water remains.
Upendo Beach can be reached from the airport in about 1h 10 minutes on a good tarred road.

Various tours around Zanzibar can be booked on site.
Right next to Upendo Beach is «The Rock», a restaurant islanded about 50m in the ocean on a coral rock. Alternatively you can also visit the restaurant of Matlai hotel, which can be reached in about 20 minutes on foot.
