The name Singita represents the ultimate in quality. Ebony and Boulders in Singita Sabi Sand Game Reserve were this well-known company’s first lodges. Singita attaches great importance to personal service and displays its Relais Châteaux seal of approval with pride.
Singita Boulders Lodge is built, as the name suggests, around a boulder, which can still be seen in the wine cellar today. The design of Boulders Lodge is more contemporary than that of Ebony Lodge. It offers 12 glass-fronted suites built on the banks of the Sand River. Each suite comes with an en-suite bathroom, lounge, private terrace with heated pool, ceiling fan/air conditioning, safe, hairdryer, outdoor shower, open fireplace and minibar. Two of the suites (each two suites built together) are suitable for families.
Singita lodges offer superb cuisine and a well-stocked wine cellar. Ebony Lodge’s enthusiastic sommelier is always happy to find the perfect wine (included in the price) to match your menu.
Other options in the reserve are Singita Ebony and the exclusive use Singita Castleton.
Flights from Johannesburg arrive at Singita Sabi Sand Airstrip, which is located approximately 10 minutes from the lodges.
Singita Lebombo is located atop a rocky outcrop like a collection of eagle’s nests. It offers the most spectacular views of the sweeping bush landscape and the N'wanetsi River, the local wildlife’s favourite drinking spot. Lebombo boasts beautiful rooms, fantastic views, exciting game drives and excellent all-round service.
Built either side of the main building, the lodge’s 15 rooms sit on partly very high stilts along a rugged cliff face. The glass-fronted rooms feature a deck with seats and a daybed which can also be used for sleeping under the stars. Two of the suites have two bedrooms and are suitable for families.
The two large suites can be booked as the private Singita Lebombo Villa for a maximum of 8 guests. This exclusive-use villa is set apart from the lodge and includes a full staff complement, private boma, open-plan kitchen and airy living areas that spill onto inviting outdoor spaces with an expansive pool.
The main area itself boasts an impressively long swimming pool, a lounge, bar and an interesting wine cellar, the contents of which are included in the price. The in-house sommelier is happy to find the perfect wine to match your menu. Lebombo is a truly fantastic accommodation option and a trip to this side of the Kruger is highly recommended.
Your alternative in Singita Kruger: Singita Sweni
Lebombo and Sweni sit within walking distance of each other at the point where the N'wanetsi and Sweni rivers meet. The craggy Lebombo Mountains and the river landscape offer a spectacular backdrop to game drives. The region is also home to many indigenous plants, including the bizarre Lebombo euphorbia.
Access is by air from Johannesburg or one of the Sabi lodges to the nearest Kruger airstrip, followed by a 30-minute transfer to either of the two lodges.
