Transport Mode Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is worth a stop on the way between Entebbe (3h) and Murchison (2h). We stop here to stretch our legs and learn more about these fascinating animals. The sanctuary is home to over twenty rhinos and you are taken on a short hike with a ranger to track some of the rhinos. It is the only place in Uganda where rhinos live freely. The animals are guarded day and night and will one day be released back into one of the big parks.

3 nights Nile Safari lodge, Murchison Falls National Park

Nile Safari Lodge is located on the southern bank of the Nile in Murchison Falls National Park. There are six deluxe bandas overlooking the river, composed with a thatched roof, spacious seating area, day bed, a generous mosquito net, en suite facilities with indoor and outdoor showers, bathtub, and a private viewing deck with a swing chair and deck chairs. The exclusive banda overs even a bit more luxury by additionally featuring a private plunge pool and a daybed. Last but not least there is a family room, set back from the river and with two bedrooms, shared living space, private swimming pool and outdoor viewing terrace.

The main building itself includes a relaxing lounge with an open fireplace and a large terrace where breakfast and lunch will be served. Just besides the main area is a salt based infinity swimming pool, big enough for a leisurely swim or a refreshing dip. There is also a massage house and a yoga deck.

Location
Murchison Falls National Park covers an area of 3,893 km² and is located in northwestern Uganda. The park is bisected by the Nile River and includes savanna (grassland) in the north and more forested areas in the south. Wildlife sightings are easier and game drives usually more rewarding in the savannas.

The Victoria Nile (which belongs to the White Nile) forces its way through a gap in the rocks, only 7 m wide, and tumbles 43 m to the base of Murchison Falls. The waterfalls can be easily visited from the lodge by boat or vehicle.

Paraa (home of the hippo) is the central area of the park. The areas on both sides of the river are connected by a ferry that must be used when visiting the park. In 2019, a bridge was built which will facilitate access to the park.

Travel time from Entebbe about 5,5 hours. Flights take about 1 hour to Pakuba or Bugungu Airstrip, from there it is a 45 minutes road transfer to the lodge.

Transport Mode Private Boat Trip on the river Nile to visit the Murchison Falls
Your private boat will pick you up at the lodge and take you up the Nile to the Murchison Falls. The captain will tirelessly watch out for wildlife and point out birds, crocodiles and hippos. The Victoria Nile (which belongs to the White Nile) forces its way through a gap in the rocks, only 7 m wide, and tumbles 43 m to the base of Murchison Falls. Once you approach the base of the falls, the currents become too strong. It is time to disembark the boat and start your walk. The dirt track leads along the water, allowing beautiful views of the mighty falls. After a steep climb you reach the top of the falls where your guide expects your already, ready to serve drinks and a little picnic.

Transport Mode Private Boat Trip to the Victoria Nile Delta - Lake Albert
The Victoria Nile delta, a 17km voyage downstream, is home to rare wetland birds including shoebill and papyrus endemic species. Morning cruises offer a visual spectacle of mist rising off the mirror calm-water as your captain navigates the papyrus channels of the delta. Fishermen from both Uganda and neighbouring Congo fish on Lake Albert in traditional dugout canoes, casting their nets with a wide sweep, leaving lasting memories of rural African life.

Transport Mode Game Drive in Murchison National Park
Murchison Falls is Uganda's only National Park where visitors can spot the Big-5. Buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard are often to be seen especially north of the Nile. Rhinos were extinct in Uganda, but have been reintroduced in the south of the park. It is also one of the few places where the endangered Rothschild's Giraffe is still found.

Kibale Lodge compromises eight deluxe rooms and a villa, plus a spa, sauna and pool. Three deluxe bandas will be open by May 2024 and five more by the end of 2024. Hand built by the Volcanoes Construction team, Kibale Lodge will bring out the characteristics of the special 150-acre site dominated by a rocky outcrop with stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains (Mountains of the Moon) from the main ridge line looking towards the west and the Queen Elizabeth plains and the Kazinga channel to the south. The area is surrounded by lush homesteads of the Kabarole region, with its welcoming temperate climate.

Kibale National Park (795 km²) is home to 13 different primate species. Especially the chimpanzees are a magnet for many visitors to Uganda. About 1,500 chimpanzees live in Kibale Forest, as well as the largest population of colobus monkeys in East Africa.

Kibale Lodge is an hour’s drive from the historic hill town of Fort Portal and an hour from the Kasese airstrip, from which there are daily flights to and from Entebbe. Kibale Forest, the base for chimpanzee trekking, is a thirty-minute drive from the lodge.

Transport Mode Chimpanzee Trekking at Kibale Forest
Kibale National Park (795 km²) is home to 13 different primate species. Especially the chimpanzees are a magnet for many visitors to Uganda. About 1,500 chimpanzees live in Kibale Forest, as well as the largest population of colobus monkeys in East Africa.

You will visit one of these chimpanzee groups today. The trek starts at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre and usually takes two to four hours of easy trekking with your rangers. The actual time with the chimpanzees is limited to one hour.

Kyambura Gorge Lodge offers eight remarkably tasteful bandas with double or twin beds. The wooden floors, high ceilings and carefully chosen interior design give the rooms style and grandeur - your perfect home away from home in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Four of the rooms, the Deluxe Bandas, are larger and provide even more space.

All rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, flush toilet, double washbasins, shower and a private balcony. The rooms are named after the chimpanzees of Kyambura Gorge and are slightly elevated on a hillside. Enjoy views across Queen Elizabeth National Park to the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains, which are clearly visible on good days.

The lodge has vast grounds - in the middle of it sits the beautifully restored main house, which was a coffee roastery once. The old building has been carefully restored and transformed into a modern living room. If the weather permits, meals are served on the terrace. There is also a beautiful swimming pool and spa.

Location
Kyambura Gorge Lodge is located on the eastern border of Queen Elizabeth National Park, just outside the park. This is absolutely no disadvantage as the game drives in the northern part are done on the Kasenyi plains. These are easily accessible via the bridge that crosses the Kazinga Channel at Katunguru.

Kyambura Gorge is situated close to the lodge. Descending the steep gorge and crossing the log bridges over the river requires some agility and fitness. Chimp Trekking requires a permit, which is issued in advance and the trekkers must be accompanied by an official ranger.

Kazinga Channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George, named after Queen Victoria's son, Edward VII and his successor, George V. The boat trips start at Mweya Lodge, which can be reached in about an hours drive.

A drive from Kampala / Entebbe takes about seven hours. Kibale Forest and the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park can be reached in about three hours.

Transport Mode Boat trip on Kazinga Channel
The 36km long Kazinga Canal connects Lake Edward and Lake George, named after Queen Victoria's son, Edward VII and his successor, George V. The boat trips start from the Mweya Peninsula and take about two hours, travelling along both banks of the river. With a bit of luck, you will see many elephants and buffalos on the river banks, as well as hippos, crocodiles and many birds. You also pass a fishing village with very beautiful coloured boats.

2 nights Bwindi Lodge, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi Lodge calls itself "Jungle Lodge", as the main building and rooms are beautifully nestled in the wild forests of Bwindi. The stylish main building offers a lounge, restaurant and the Bwindi Bar, which awaits you with drinks and samples of local cuisine.

The large windows of the main building are creating light and a sense of being in the middle of the forest. The main living area has a central fireplace which acts as a focal point for guests to relax and discuss their gorilla tracking experience. A newly designed outdoor terrace gives dramatic views of the impenetrable forest and is a great place to spot the monkeys and birds hidden in the foliage.

Guests are accommodated in eight tasteful bandas, which have en-suite bathrooms, showers and double washbasins. Most rooms also have a small terrace with lounge chairs. The two newly built deluxe bandas are larger and your upgrade option. A personal butler service is provided for all guests.

Location
Bwindi Lodge is located on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the northern part of the National Park, in the so-called Buhoma sector. The lodge is located at the entrance of the village below the access road. The park boundary and ranger headquarters is about 5 minutes drive from the lodge. At the foot of the lodge a small river meanders along the forest.

Travel time to Bwindi Lodge from Entebbe is around nine hours. Flights from Entebbe to Kihihi Airstrip take about one hour and from there it is only a one-hour drive to the lodge.

Transport Mode Gorilla Trekking Bwindi / Buhoma
Gorilla trekking starts in the morning from the rangers headquarter and can take as little as two hours or as much as six hours, depending on where the gorillas are. Only 8 guests are allowed per gorilla group and the maximum time spent with the gorillas is strictly 1 hour. The walk may include trekking through dense forest, sometimes including steeper climbs and guests need a bit of endurance and good footgear but will be rewarded with a life changing experience. Four different gorilla groups can be visited in the Buhoma sector. They are called Rushegura, Habinyanja, Katwe and Mubare.

Transport Mode Trekking the Bwindi Forest
Instead of a tedious seven-hour drive around the park by vehicle, you will hike from the southern part of Bwindi directly to the northern Buhoma sector. You will be driven to the village of Nteko, from where the trek begins. The trekking takes about four hours and is accompanied by a ranger and a guide who will explain flora & fauna and of course point out the beautiful birds. Keep your eyes open for chimpanzees - they also live in good numbers in the Bwindi Forest. Shortly before reaching Buhoma, the Munyaga waterfalls are worth a little detour. Buhoma Lodge and Gorilla Forest Lodge are located conveniently right at the end of the trek, all other accommodation are situated outside the park in the village.

2 nights Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is located in southwestern Uganda, perched high on a hill, with sensational views of the Virunga volcanoes that stretch from Uganda via Rwanda into the Democratic Republic of Congo. At night, the glow of the Nyiragongo volcano shimmers in the distance. This view alone is already worth the nightly rate.

Clouds Lodge is the perfect base for exploring the natural habitat of the mountain gorillas of Bwindi. The Nkuringo group of gorillas can be reached in about 1.5 hours on foot. A truly unforgettable and touching experience.

The lodge is also considered a pioneer for ecotourism in Uganda and its involvement with the local people. Regional artists have contributed to the design of the lodge interior. In return guests of Clouds Lodge have preferential access to the Nkuringo sector and priority in the allocation of permits to this sector.

Built of local volcanic stone, the lodge's eight chalets (two of which are family rooms) have spacious en-suite bathrooms, a large sitting room with double-sided fireplace and beautiful views over the valley from your private veranda.

Location
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is located in the Nkuringo sector at the southwestern gate of Bwindi National Park. At an altitude of 2,100 meters, Clouds Lodge sits on Nteko Ridge and offers spectacular views of the mysterious Virunga Mountains and the fertile lands of the Great Rift Valley.

Travel time to Clouds Lodge from Entebbe is a whopping 10 hours. Flights from Entebbe take 1 hour 15 minutes to Kisoro Airstrip. The road transfer from the airstrip to the lodge is just over an hour.

2 nights Mihingo Lodge, Lake Mburo

Located adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park, Mihingo Lodge is perched high on a rocky kopje and has spectacular views over the vast savannah landscape. Designed to blend in with its fragile surroundings, the twelve thatched-roofed tents are raised on platforms and come with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, showers and flush loos. Each rooms has its unique charm and character, whether it is nestled in forest, overlooking the lake, perched on a rocky outcrop or located down by the water hole. Location
With 370 km², Lake Mburo National Park is a relatively small park. Lake Mburo, located in the middle of the park, forms a wetland that includes a 50km long swamp area and 14 other lakes, that are all supplied with water from the Ruizi River.

Mihingo Lodge is located close to Lake Mburo National Park. The drive to the park entrance takes about 30 minutes. The drive to Bwindi Forest takes about 6 hours, to Entebbe about 4 hours, Queen Elizabeth NP about 3,5 hour and Kibale Forest 5 hours.
