The Sabi Sand Reserve is the best known reserve in the extended Kruger National Park in South Africa. Although this area is often referred to as a single reserve, it is actually a combination of several very well-known private reserves, including Singita, Londolozi, Mala Mala, Sabi Sabi and Lion Sands.

Kruger National Park is South Africa's largest natural area and covers 18'989 km². It is home to an incredible density of wild cats and big game and over 500 species of birds, arguably unique in Africa in its diversity.

The lodges in the Sabi Sand Reserve are renowned for their excellent game viewing, and encounters with the big five are almost guaranteed. The Kruger Park side is unfenced, allowing the animals to move freely between Kruger National Park and the private nature reserve.

To have the best possible game drive experience, we recommend the larger private reserves in the Sabi Sand reserve such as Singita, Londolozi, Mala Mala, Sabi Sabi and Lion Sands, which offer enough space for undisturbed game drives. Naturally this comes with a higher price tag. The smaller reserves in the Sabi Sand reserve are often located on the edge of the reserve, which is fenced off to the west and guests are therefore often confronted with 'fence sightings' during game drives. In addition, they have often agreed on traversing rights which can result in crowded sightings.
